Even
butterflies hide their secrets from people... What can we say about the
outlandish tarantula spider or marine iguana, the Goliath beetle or the
mysterious harpy bird? Following in the footsteps of the children's book “100
Amazing Animals” by the famous zoologist Vladimir Flint, we will go on a trip
around the planet Earth and get acquainted with its extraordinary inhabitants.
The exhibition includes riddles, games, interactive activities and animal
voices that awaken children's curiosity and exploration of our neighbors on the
planet.
The
exhibition “100 Amazing Animals” is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the
birth of the world-famous scientist, outstanding domestic zoologist and
specialist in the field of nature conservation, Vladimir Evgenievich Flint
(03/14/1924 - 03/23/2004).
The
scientist visited all continents of the world and met amazing creatures of
nature - from the majestic Amur tiger to the mysterious flying dragon. He left
his impressions for children in the book “100 Amazing Animals,” where he
collected a huge number of curious, little-known, unexpected scientific facts
and presented them vividly and accessible to any child.
This
exhibition, like Vladimir Flint’s book, is intended primarily for children.
Those who have not yet learned to read will be interested in looking at animals
from their favorite fairy tales and cartoons and seeing the rare platypus and
koala, the giant goliath beetle and tiny hummingbirds, the hulking elephant
turtle and agile colobus monkeys, the predatory Brazilian harpy and harmless
arboreal porcupines. Older children will try to penetrate the secrets of living
creatures by guessing riddles hidden in shop windows, and will get acquainted
with Tricky Coit and the Road Runner, penguins Lolo and Pepe, Nemo the clown
fish and Blinky the koala, and other popular characters from around the world.
In the
company of the exhibition's protagonist - an inquisitive zoologist and traveler
- we will visit the most remote corners of the globe, see 100 amazing animals
with our own eyes and listen to their voices. The songs of whales and the chirping
of tropical cicadas, the growl of pumas and Amur tigers, the cries of bird
colonies and the unison of cranes, the roar of elephants and the cries of
coyotes, the sound of the ocean and the whistle of the wind in the mountains -
dozens of natural sounds are available for listening.
In addition
to the rich natural science collection, the animal world at the exhibition is
represented by paintings, graphics and sculpture from the collection of the
Darwin Museum.
