On June 1,
the museum opened an exhibition of paintings by Anze Gritsmane “Sacred
Abstraction”. The exhibition was organized jointly with the European Cultural
Club. Thanks to this partnership, the Darwin Museum has already hosted the
exhibition “Andy Warhol. Endangered Species", "Animals in Fairy
Tales", "Professor Cizek's Children".
The head of the exhibition department of the museum, Yana Shklyarskaya, noted the importance of international contacts, which allow not to interrupt cultural exchange. Irina Stezhka, curator, representative of the European Cultural Club, spoke about how successfully Anze Gritzmane’s exhibition was held in the Kaluga and Ryazan art museums, and how abstract art resonates even with unprepared viewers.
The Latvian artist expressed gratitude to the guests and organizers of the exhibition and emphasized that although art does not need translation, she is pleased to be able to address the Russian audience in Russian. She also briefly explained the sources of her inspiration - the art of Marc Chagall, love of music, including spiritual music, and the study of ancient sacred texts.
The
exhibition will run until July 30, 2023. A master class by Anze Gritzmane is
planned in July, follow the updates on social networks and on the museum’s website.
